What Can I Do to Fight Cancer?

Hi, my name is Sam Callahan. My life changed on September 22, 2009. I went to the hospital with a temperature of 102 and a pain in my side. Several hours later I was in an ambulance being taken to Stanford Hospital to start a journey I never wanted to take.

What my parents thought might be appendicitis turned out to be cancer. After several days in the hospital, multiple surgeries, tests and scans, we were told that I have EWING SARCOMA, a form of cancer that hits young people typically between the ages of 10 and 20.

I have always been very athletic and outgoing. It is hard being sick because I don’t get the luxury of doing those things anymore.I had a plan, a path that I was planning to take. I had things to do and now they have been put on hold until I can get rid of this disease.
